Emanuel USY is in the Hanefesh Region. The Hanefesh Region, meaning “the soul”, has many events throughout the year for all Jewish Youth in grades 9-12 who live in Connecticut and Western Massachusetts. That means that at each event you will get to hang out and meet teens from all over Connecticut and Western Mass.

Throughout the year the region holds many events. These include the weeklong Quad-Regional Encampment in August, the Regional Boat Dance in September, Fall Kinnus, Mid-Winter Kinnus, the Semi-Formal dance, Spring Convention, and Final Event. Fall Kinnus, Mid-Winter Kinnus, and Spring Convention are each fantastic events which occur over an entire weekend. During them USYers will be busy eating, davening, and participating in exciting activities. We will also be doing Israel programs, Tikkun Olam (repairing the world) activities, having interesting discussion groups, and hanging out with friends both new and old! Fall Kinnus is held at a camp, Mid-Winter is held at a host synagogue where USYers sleep at host homes or the synagogue, and Spring Convention is hold at the Holiday Inn in North Haven. The regional Mid-Winter Kinnus for 2007 was hosted at the Emanuel Synagogue February 2-4. It was a huge success!

With the region we also travel to USY’s International Convention at the end of December. This is hosted in a different location around North America each year. We spend and entire week meeting USYers from across North America and participating in events similar to those at Regional Conventions and new events such as concerts and trips. The 2007 International Convention will be held in Anaheim, California! Look for more information on International Convention on www.usy.org.

You can find information about all Regional events on our website or on the Hanefesh Region’s website (www.hanefesh.org).
